This week’s episode is much longer than usual–about 40 minutes–because our discussion with bookstore manager Frank Cole was just too darn interesting to trim down. Frank gives a lot of great advice to authors about how they should develop their relationship with bookstores, what they should and shouldn’t do at signings, and what will make a bookstore eager to have you back (or eager to have you leave).
Next we talk about how to write humor. How and why should humor be used in your writing? How is it different if you’re writing a humor for humor’s sake (like Frank and Marion’s MG novels) or including humor in a different genre (like Sarah’s romances).
Finally, we play a rousing game of Bad Romance–including a brand new theme song!–and Frank creates a really strange booby trap.
